The mariachi is the subject here and the calavera face is how the figure belongs to the holiday, which is exactly how these pages are built.

The embroidery on the suit came back denser than we asked for, and we kept it. It is what separates a mariachi from a man in a suit with a trumpet, and children recognise it immediately.

What is in this mariachi coloring page

A mariachi is a musician in a charro suit: fitted jacket, tall trousers, a wide brimmed sombrero and silver or embroidered trim running down the outside of the legs. All of that is on the page.

The trumpet is raised to the mouth with both hands on the valves, and five music notes drift up and away to the right at different sizes, which is where the sense of sound comes from.

The suit is covered in flower motifs: on the jacket, on both trouser legs, around the cuffs. Each one is a five petal bloom with a dotted centre, and there are more than a dozen of them.
