These backhoe digger coloring pages show the machine that does two jobs at once. The concept we entered into Colorin AI was "a backhoe digger with its front loader down and its rear digging arm raised high above the cab on a work site", and the printable sheet arrived in seconds. The shovel, the cone, the hills and the clouds all came back with it, and between them they turn one machine into a whole scene.

Change one thing and the site changes. Ask for a pile of pipes beside it and it becomes a water main job. Ask for a fence and a house behind and the same digger is working in a garden.

What's in this backhoe digger coloring page

This is the busiest construction sheet in the collection, and the reason is that the two ends of the machine are completely different. At the front there is a wide flat loader bucket with a row of eight teeth along its lip, held on two curved arms. At the back the digging arm is drawn in three sections with pivots and cylinders, ending in a much deeper bucket with four long teeth.

Between them the cab is fully glazed, with shine lines across the windshield and a small side mirror. On the rear body panel there are three warning symbols, a triangle, a circle and a rectangle, all blank and waiting to be filled.

The wheels follow the tractor pattern, small at the front and large at the back, both with heavy tread. The shovel on the left is drawn with a rounded blade and a D shaped handle.

Behind the machine the ground runs off to a low horizon with two rounded hills, two clouds sit in the sky, and a few loose rocks are scattered near the cone. None of it is detailed, and that is deliberate: the background gives the digger somewhere to be without asking for much color.

Coloring Ideas and Techniques

Backhoes are usually yellow with black arms, and it is worth splitting them that way here, because it makes the two working ends read clearly against the body. Yellow on the cab, hood and wheel arches, then a dark grey or black on both the loader arms and the digging arm.

The three warning symbols on the rear panel are the one place to go bright: orange or red on all three ties them together as a set and gives the back of the machine a focus. Finish with the cone in orange and white, the shovel handle in wood brown with a metal blade, and the hills behind left almost bare so the machine stays in front.
