Umbrella and unicorn both start with U, and on this letter U coloring page they share the space under a big capital U and a lowercase u. The open umbrella has a smiling face and a hooked handle. The unicorn has a spiral horn, a long wavy mane and a heart on its hip, and it lifts one front leg. The letters are wide, empty outlines, and the page is easy for ages 3 to 6.

How this coloring page was created

For this page, we typed this idea into Colorin AI: "the capital letter U and the lowercase letter u side by side, drawn large as hollow outlined letters ready to color across the top half of the page, with an open umbrella and a unicorn below them."

How to use it

The two pictures start with two different sounds of U. Umbrella starts with the short u sound, and unicorn starts with the name of the letter, so a speech therapist can have a child say both words and listen for the difference. A kindergarten teacher can use the page for a letter of the week on U and show the small stem on the right side of the lowercase u. To pair a big U with a child's favorite animal, generate your own U page.
